Located in beautiful Lafayette, California.
Troop 224 is a Youth-Led Leadership Development Program for Girls and Boys
We meet two Mondays a month. Once a month for a troop meeting at our Hut on the Happy Valley Elementary School grounds from 7:30-9:00 pm, and the other Monday each month, all patrols meet at their patrol leader’s house for a patrol meeting. We are one of the oldest troops in Lafayette and have many Eagle Scout Alumni.
Our troop experiences many diverse, beautiful and most of all - FUN - trips throughout the year! We generally have one trip a month, including a Family Trip to Yosemite, a Ski Trip, Camporee, Mother's Camp, Summer Camp, Kayaking, Rafting, a high adventure camp, such as Northern Tier (which we did this last year) or Philmont (which we will do this summer) and more!
Troop 224 focuses on letting boys and girls learn leadership abilities by leading the troop, with the help of adult leaders. Our troop requires 50% attendance in troop activities to be able to advance rank so you can still participate in sports or other activities.
Our sole fundraiser for the year is our Tree Lot, located just across the road from the Lafayette Reservoir. Working at the Tree Lot teaches our Scouts how to operate a retail business, which includes customer service, acting as salespeople and tying proper knots so the trees won't fall off the cars. Plus, it's a lot of FUN for everyone!
